Ransom & Kong Piano & Viola Duo in Franklin NC, September 8, 2024
Pianist William Ransom and Violist Yinzi Kong will play a program of light classics this Sunday, September 8, at 3:00 p.m., in the sanctuary of Franklin’s First Presbyterian Church.
Selections will include George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, a Ballade by Frederic Chopin, and Seven Spanish Songs by Manuel de Falla, among others.
Pianist Ransom has appeared as soloist with orchestras, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia, Mexico, North and South America, Ireland, and all around the United States. A graduate of The Juilliard School, he is the Mary Emerson Professor of Piano at Emory University, and is Artistic Director of the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival.
Violist Kong, a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Vega String Quartet, has performed in Carnegie Hall and other major concert venues around the world, and has won top prizes at many international competitions. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in New York, she enjoys a versatile career in both solo and chamber music performance and teaching.
First Presbyterian Church is at 26 Church Street, a block north of Main Street in Franklin, with wheelchair access from the church parking lot.
