The Arts Council of Macon County
Arts Scholarship
Purpose:
To help deserving students pursue a degree in the performing, literary, or visual/graphic arts, or arts education. There are many variations in the domain of the arts, and we encourage students to pursue their interests. Questions regarding whether a certain field of study falls within the scope of this scholarship should be referred to the Arts Council.
Amount:
$1000, nonrenewable.
Scholarship recipients who meet the eligibility requirements may reapply in subsequent years.
Eligibility:
Any high school graduate or graduating senior living in Macon County who intends to pursue or is pursuing a degree in the arts at any accredited, approved post-secondary institution may apply.
Criteria:
The selection panel considers applicants’ abilities, interests, educational goals, career aspirations, and financial need.
To apply:
Submit a completed one-page application form plus:
Applicants must submit to an in-person interview by the selection panel.
Deadline:
Applications must be submitted to any Macon County school guidance office or mailed to the Arts Council no later than May 10 (each year).

- Two recommendations using the Arts Council’s recommendation form, one of which should be from a school teacher or principal.
- Standard financial information form, available from school guidance offices or from the Arts Council.
- Current school transcript if applicant in in school.
